"I am born of God and the evil one - the devil - cannot touch me"
1 John 5:18(NASB)
JESUS knows us all too well, from our very first contact with HIM, to allow us to not understand the boundaries that are best for us regarding the enemy. JESUS knows our past and knows our future and knows our inability to impose our own boundaries all too well to not remind us of HIS provisions.
As believers, formerly fallen, redeemed though JESUS shed blood, we experience spiritual amnesia because of the fall. It seems as though we must have landed on our heads, because of our tendency to be so forgetful. JESUS cares so deeply about our life on this earth, because HE died to set us free from the bondage of the enemy, HE wants us to understand what boundaries HE has imposed upon satan. While we have to enforce those boundaries by saying no to the enemies temptations, JESUS established a boundary with him that he often violates. After being born again, we have a wall of separation built between us and satan that only we can open the gate for his entering into our lives again.
We must take the responsibility to enforce and respect the boundary JESUS established and not open that gate. We hold the key to our freedom, but have been admonished to not allow that freedom to be used for sin. We are responsible for respecting the boundaries and growing deeper in relationship with JESUS, in order to better we understand the reasons HE established those boundaries. The more we know HIM, the more we respect HIS truth about our own weaknesses.
When the enemy stands beside us, whispering into our ears words like - "you are free to experience this - the boundary that JESUS set is too rigid" - we need to model what JESUS said to Peter when he violated the boundary - "get behind me satan"! We must cry out and remind the enemy the boundary JESUS has set. Satan is not allowed to touch us!
He is forbidden access to our lives, unless we invite him in. Satan is not a gentleman, he will try to force his way in. JESUS set the boundary out of HIS love for us. HE knows us deeper than we know ourselves, so our responsibility is to remember - "I am born of GOD and am untouchable to the devil."
Declare today: " I am untouchable to the devil"
"Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near."
